Road Rash 30th Anniversary Edition FAQ and Known Issues
The most important current warning is simple: save manually. The game has Steam Cloud but no autosave. Steam Deck players should also know that legacy menus may need the virtual keyboard and FMV playback can occasionally crash.
Saves and the Extras folder
The Extras folder is in the game’s root install directory. It contains scanned original documents and the controller setup PDF. Save progress manually from the Restroom menu; Steam Cloud syncs the save but does not replace autosave.
Choose standard, high-resolution, or upscaled FMVs
Open Restroom → Graphics and Sound, then use the Videos setting. Standard uses the classic 1996 videos. High-res uses the recovered master-source footage for modern 16:9 displays. High-res upscaled applies EA’s optional AI upscaling. You can also disable videos.
Disable licensed music for streaming
In Restroom → Graphics and Sound → Sound Mix, mute Interface Sounds to remove menu and cinematic audio dominated by licensed music. Then turn Rock Music in Race off to use the original MIDI race soundtrack. This is EA’s official risk-reduction guidance, not a guarantee from a streaming platform.
Current known issue on Steam Deck
The official launch FAQ says the game may occasionally crash after an FMV on Steam Deck. EA reports that the team reduced the problem but did not eliminate it. If it occurs, select a different video mode or disable videos and save frequently. The mode-change suggestion is a practical inference from the available settings, not a published fix.
