WHAT CHANGED

Recovered, relicensed, and made playable again

EA recovered the PC source code and Road Rash master video tapes while preserving thousands of historical media assets. The release adds restored FMVs, optional upscaling, controllers, vibration, windowed mode, cloud saves, and in-race rock music.

It is still the 1996 game underneath. That means the original visual style, manual saving, 25-race progression, and LAN-era networking remain part of the experience.

Save manually; treat Steam Deck FMVs with care

The official FAQ says there is no autosave. Create a save from the Restroom menu before ending a session. Steam Cloud syncs that file but does not create one for you.

Steam Deck is listed as Playable. Some legacy menus need the virtual keyboard, and FMV playback can still cause an occasional crash.
